Glory won't change me: Amir Khan

Amir Khan bids to land the world light-welterweight title when he takes on WBA champion Andreas Kotelnik at Manchester's MEN Arena on Saturday.

Khan, 22, is confident he can make the step up from prospect to champ against Ukrainian Kotelnik but is well aware of what comes with the territory.

He said: "Winning the title would change my life - but I'll still be the normal, same old guy who lives in Bolton and hangs out with his friends.

"I've wanted this moment, this chance all my life.

"It will be a dream to win but boxing is a sport where I know if fighters get big-headed it hits them back twice as hard.

"So I intend to just stay humble and stick with my small team.

"The way I train will keep me away from the trappings of success.

"There's a small team around me and I like it that way.

"I'm going to live a normal life. I'll still be the normal person I am now.

"Family are not going to see me in a different way if I win the title.

"They're still going to see me as Amir, as a normal lad. That's the way I like it. When you're winning people want to be your friend, on your side.

"But when things go wrong for you they turn on you and stuff. But even when I tasted that defeat against Breidis Prescott, things were still normal.

"My friends and family were still there for me."
